One person was killed in a Marigny shooting early Friday morning, according to the New Orleans Police Department, marking the city's second reported murder of 2024.
The shooting was reported to police at 1:32 a.m. at the intersection of Bourbon and Kerlerec streets, where officers found a wounded male. He was declared dead on scene.
Police did not immediately release more information.
The city's first killing was reported on New Year's Day, when officers found 27-year-old Eddie Rodrigue dead under a mattress in the 7200 block of Burke Road. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later determined Rodrigue died of a gunshot wound and classified the death as a homicide.
Editor's note: This story has been revised to reflect that the Marigny shooting is the city's second reported killing of the year.
