The NOPD is seeking information from the public about the theft of a U.S. Capitol Police Badge. The pictured badge is a duplicate of the stolen item.

A Bourbon Street thief made off with a wallet containing a U.S. Capitol Police Badge, according to New Orleans police.

They're asking the public for help finding the badge and identifying the perpetrator. New Orleans police said the theft occurred in the 700 block of Bourbon Street at around 3 a.m. on Dec. 15.

The victim told police he noticed his wallet was missing after visiting several businesses on Bourbon Street. His U.S. Capitol Police Badge #4286 was inside the wallet. 

Impersonating an officer is a federal and local crime. Anyone with information may contact Eighth District officers at (504) 658-6080 or Crimestoppers (504) 822-1111.
