A man was arrested Wednesday morning after his alleged would-be carjacking victim fought him off in the Michoud area, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Cristhian Echevarria, 26, was booked into the Orleans Parish jail on counts of attempted carjacking and simple battery, according to online jail records.
Echevarria is accused of ordering another man to pull off the road near the intersection of I-510 North and Chef Menteur Highway just before noon. When Echevarria allegedly attempted to take the vehicle, the victim fought him off and forced him out of the vehicle, police said.
Echevarria was arrested on scene.
