A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in the Plum Orchard area late Thursday night, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Police were called at 10:47 p.m. to the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Wilson Avenue, where they found the injured man lying in the street. He was declared dead on scene, police said.
Investigators said the driver was traveling west on Chef in the left lane when the man walked into the roadway and was hit by the car. The driver stayed on scene after the collision and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
Police did not immediately release more information.
