Joan of Arc parade

The Joan of Arc parade begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6.

While the rest of the world laments the end of the holiday season, in New Orleans the fun has just begun with a full schedule of Carnival events starting Saturday, January 6.

A highlight of the Mayor's annual king cake party at Mardi Gras World will be the release of a new Mardi Gras Economic Impact Study conducted by Dr. Toni Weiss of Tulane University.

10 a.m.: Mayor’s Mardi Gras King Cake Party at Mardi Gras World

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Mardi Gras Authors (16) book signing Barnes & Noble Metairie

3 p.m.: Mande King’s Day parade and festival, Mandeville lakefront

6 p.m.: St. John’s Fools of Misrule walking parade, Covington

6 p.m. Societe Des Champs Elysee pedicab parade in the Marigny

7 p.m.: St. Joan of Arc walking parade in the French Quarter

7 p.m.: Phunny Phorty Phellows streetcar parade

7:05 p.m.: Funky Uptown Krewe streetcar parade

Other Mardi Gras happenings

On Friday, Jan. 5, Arthur Hardy will appear on the Fox Morning News at 8:15 AM to discuss the 2024 Carnival season.

Hardy be doing signings at Barnes & Noble in Metairie Saturday, Jan. 6, from noon to 2 p.m. He'll be Melba’s, 1525 Elysian Fields in the Marigny, on Saturday, Jan. 13, from noon to 1 p.m.
