The Krewe of Cleopatra celebrated its 51st annual Rendezvous Bal Masque Saturday in the Grand Ballroom and Grand Salon of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. An evening of Carnival revelry was celebrated by all as they hailed “Cleopatra’s Happy Hour.”
Officers and float lieutenants were introduced to the audience as the tableau began. The captain then made her grand entrance in traditional Carnival style.
The ruler of the Nile was Queen Cleopatra LI, Ms. Connie Taliancich DiCarlo. Her majesty's gown, white dupioni silk ombre, was beaded and adorned with Austrian crystals. Framing her face was a jeweled Medici collar of gold lace accompanied by a matching court train.
Her ensemble was completed with the traditional jeweled Egyptian crown, crook and flail.
After special guests were recognized, her majesty and the captain were presented in a final grand march.
Following the tableau, guests and members enjoyed an evening of Carnival merriment accompanied by the music of Flamethrowers and Snapshot 8.
