After a hiatus, the Four Seasons and Patio Stage Bar has returned with a fresh coat of paint and new owners.
Drag queen and new owner Corynne Deville hosted a soft opening Dec. 15, and the Jefferson Parish gay bar is now open and will host standing events like trivia and bingo.
Deville said she and her husband, John Rufo-Hutchinson, are honored to now be the owners of the Four Seasons, continuing to serve the Jefferson Parish LGBTQ+ community as the space has done since the 1950s.
"It's a rite of passage. The ownership of this bar has been handed down over the last years since '92," Deville said. "So we had Chuck and Bill who owned it from '92 'til sometime early 2000s. Then Electra City and Tittie Toulouse, they bought it around then, and they were chosen by Bill and Chuck. Then they chose Paul to purchase it after them. And then I bought it from Paul by being chosen by him as the newest owner."
While there are bars where Deville said the queer community feels comfortable going in Metairie, this is the only bar that is dedicated to them.
The bar had been open intermittently over the last three years between recovering from the pandemic and not having enough staffing to sustain regular service, Deville said.
Between the holidays and Carnival season coming up, the bar that is a few blocks away from the main Metairie Mardi Gras parade route is going to wait until after Fat Tuesday to celebrate its reopening.
