High winds and heavy rain played havoc with some Christmas season festivities in St. Tammany, but the inaugural Twinkle on the Tchefuncte River Lighted Boat Parade refused to go away and hope for better weather next year. Instead, the parade was rescheduled until Dec. 23, a new date so near Christmas that it undoubtedly kept some people away due to conflicting holiday commitments. But observers said a few hundred people still turned out to the riverfront. The night also included a brief program posthumously honoring two parade grand marshals, the late District Attorney Warren Montgomery and longtime town Mayor Peter Gitz, and ended with carols by candlelight.
